Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services, Africa’s largest cargo operator, is transporting emergency medical supplies from Jack Ma, the founder of China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba, to support the fight against COVID -19 with the aim of reversing COVID 19 in Africa . ET’s freighter flight carrying 108 tons of test kits and other healthcare products took off from Guangzhou, China and arrived at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on 22 March 2020 which is the first part of the donation.
Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services is distributing the medical supplies to ALL African countries starting from 23 March 2020.
The medical supplies are delivered to Africa following Ethiopian Prime Minster Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s discussion with Mr Jack Ma regarding the distribution of the supplies to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Africa.
The second part of the donation arrived at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on 25 March 2020 from Guangzhou, China.
So far the emergency medical supplies are transported to Bujumbura, Dar es selaam, Entebbe,Harare,Djibouti,,Johansberg,Juba,Kigali,Khartoum,Lome,Legos,Lusaka,Moqadishu,Nairobi,Libreville,Accra,Kinshasa,Seychelles,Mauritius,Antanarivo,Moroni,Lilongwe,and Asmara, and the rest will be transported until Saturday 28 March 2020 ”.
